Fight or Flight

IFF

1. When a ship receives a message from a space suit, the message console displays "TK4.21" a reference to a stormtrooper in Star Wars. "TK 421, why aren't you at your post?". It also has an 1138, a popular Easter Egg reference to the George Lucas film "THX1138".
2. Episode title is "IFF". In military usage IFF means "Identification Friend or Foe", an automated system of radio frequency challenges and responses that allows weapon systems to know who to shoot.
3. Spot the prop. Mei's pod is a Thule 625 Force Cargo Box with a window added. In 2018 this model was rated one of the top 10 car roof cargo carriers.
4. Mei's pod is a rooftop cargo carrier for a car.

1. The Ship "Kittur Chennamma" is named after Kittur Rani Chennamma (23 October 1778 - 21 February 1829) the Queen of Kittur, a former princely state in Karnataka, India. She led an armed rebellion against the British East India Company in 1824 in defiance of the doctrine of lapse in an attempt to maintain Indian control over the region, but was defeated and died imprisoned. One of the first female rulers to rebel against British rule, she has become a folk hero in Karnataka and symbol of the independence movement in India.
2. Kelly McCormack and Atticus Mitchell who appear in this episode as rescued Martian soldiers, play recurring characters on Killjoys (2015).

Triple Point

1. Gunnie Draper's battle suit has hydrazine thrusters. Hydrazine has been used as a monofuel propellent since the 1940s. NASA uses it in satellites and deep space probes. Just pushing hydrazine through a platinum catalyst converts the liquid fuel into a large volume of very hot gasses.
2. People keep referring to Bobbie as soldier. No self respecting Marine, Martian or otherwise, would allow anyone to call them that.

Immolation

1. Marks the ending of the second book, "Caliban's War".

Delta-V

1. The title "Delta-V" references the change in velocity over time, such as miles per hour per second. Or in g (standard Earth gravity) which is 9.8 meters per second per second, also 9.8 m/sec squared.
2. This episode marks the beginning of the third book, Abaddon's Gate, for the TV series.
3. This episode contains a cover of Deep Purple's Highway Star sung in the fictional Belter creole language.

It Reaches Out

Intransigence

1. When Alex says, "I didn't think it would end this way," he is unconsciously echoing the Captain of the MCRN Donnager, who says the same thing right before scuttling the ship.
2. When Julie Mao is arguing with her father and says, "Forget you!", her mouth is actually saying the F-word. Clearly her dialog was looped for basic cable.

Dandelion Sky

1. "Dandelion Sky" was the original title of "Abbadon's Gate," book 3 of The Expanse series from which the latter half of season 3 is adapted.

Fallen World

1. Ashford and Drummer are trapped and sing a song, a heavily modified version of " The Ballad of Captain Kidd". Kidd was tried and executed for piracy in 1701, and the ballad showed up in less than ten years.

Congregation

1. On the wall of the Behemoth's brig cell can be seen a hay manger for livestock.

Abaddon's Gate

1. After the show was canceled by Sci-fi, Amazon Prime picked it up for Season 4.
2. In May, 2018 Syfy announced the cancellation of The Expanse making this the series finale. However, the show's creators said that they would be shopping other networks to continue the series.
