The Last Wedding

1. Zooey Deschanel claims this episode was the hardest to shoot due to Jessica Biel's constant pranks on set.
2. During Schmidt's pep talk in the opening scene, he utters the phrase, "Winter is coming". These are, of course, the words of house Stark from Game of Thrones.

Dice

1. The "super fancy" salad dressing that Schmidt shows Jess is actually a bottle of Dom Perignon.
2. When Schmidt's phone rings in the bar and he says he hasn't gotten a non text message in over two years, his ringtone is Gotye's "Somebody That I Used to Know." A song that was popular two years before the episode aired.

Julie Berkman's Older Sister

1. Ashley (Kaitlin Olson) contracted giardia from Jess's high school boyfriend and said she saved her from a horrible river disease. However, in the episode "Thanksgiving III", Jess contracts giardia after eating a dead fish.
2. Ashley mentions watching the show "Ed". One of the stars of that show was Justin Long, who plays Jess's ex-boyfriend Paul.
3. Jess's old boyfriend that Julie Berkman's older sister "sexed" is named George Jung. George Jung was a prolific cocaine dealer in the 80's and was the main character played by Johnny Depp in the 2001 Ted Demme biopic, Blow.
4. Kaitlin Olson's appearance marks the second time an actress from Its Always Sunny In Philadelphia appears on New Girl. Mary Elizabeth Ellis who previously guest starred as Nick's ex girlfriend Caroline also has a recurring role on Its Always Sunny In Philadelphia as the Waitress.

Micro

1. The billboard at the end of the episode translates to "I'm a model".
2. First time the "Classic CeCe and Winston mess around" is used.
3. Matt, played by Alan Ritchson, says "Skål" during a scene. This is the Nordic way to toast/cheer.
4. Although the scene with Schmidt's billboard was really filmed in LA's Koreatown, all of the Korean-language signage was made specifically for the episode, and in fact even the signpost itself is fake, as is the fixture for the billboard itself. The four blacked-out windows visible behind the cast, which appear to show a menu for a Korean restaurant, are actually a branch of California Bank & Trust and the branch's ATM is also briefly visible from some angles.

Background Check

1. First episode to use the new intro theme so as to show all of the main characters
2. Nick comments that he can't lie, which is why he "can't play poker or talk to pregnant women." In real life, Jake Johnson used to be an avid gambler.

Goldmine

1. Amber Stevens West guest stars on this episode. She would later go on to play Damon Wayans Jr's (Coach) wife on Happy Together.
2. One of Nick's one-night stands steals the blue glass grapes. They return later and are present throughout the series, even though multiple characters take them, including Coach when he leaves.
3. In this episode, Schmidt calls Cece's breasts Harold and Kumar (again). In season 5, John Cho and Kal Penn, who play Harold and Kumar, make guest appearances.

Teachers

1. When Ryan saves Coach from the pool, the image is exactly the same as when Geroge Clooney's character Doug Ross saves the boy trapped in the water in the ER season 2 episode Hell and High Water. Julian Morris played Dr Andrew Wade in the final season of ER.

Thanksgiving IV

1. Bears are mentioned in every episode.
2. The name of Tran's Monopoly-like Thai board game translates to "Dictator".
3. At the end, when Geoff arrives, Cece chases him off by speaking to him in Hindi. The translation is roughly: "I have to go. We'll meet again. I'll call you but actually, I won't. Now leave, dude."

Girl Fight

1. The version of "God Only Knows" that plays at the end of the episode is performed by She & Him, the band for which Zooey Deschanel is lead vocalist.
2. One of the names on the Flight Standby list is Kasdan, J, a reference to Director and Producer Jake Kasdan.
3. When going on his rant about Long Island, Schmidt yells, "516!" which is the area code for Nassau County, where Schmidt is from.

Shark

1. Schmidt makes reference to how he disliked the UK version of The Office (2001). Angela Kinsey and Oscar Nunez who are former cast members in the US version of The Office (2005) have made prior guest appearances on New Girl.
2. First appearance of Aly Nelson, Winston's police partner, and later his wife.
3. When the shark takes down Nick (Jake Johnson) and Coach (Damon Wayans Jr.), Winston yells out "That's what you get!", which was the unofficial catchphrase repeated by Johnson in "Let's Be Cops" (2014).

Coming Out

1. The song to which Coach is line dancing to at the end is "Any man of mine" by Shania Twain.

Swuit

1. In the episodes following Swuit, certain people are seen wearing different pieces of it.
2. Four years after this episode aired, in March of 2019, a real product on Shark Tank was the Pooch Selfie which is a smartphone attachment that looks like an tennis ball designed to get your pet's attention while taking a picture.
3. Zooey Deschanel was happy she got to wear the swuit because her baby bump was starting to show and the swuit covered it well.

The Crawl

1. In the bar scene after the opening credits, Coach is wearing the 'Swuit' jacket Nick and Schmitt designed in the previous episode.
2. When Nick and Winston are singing karaoke during the bar crawl they are singing "My Girl," and the part they sing is "...I got the month of May." Coach meets the woman he would leave the show for that night and her name is May.
3. Final appearance of Julian Morris as Ryan.

Oregon

1. This episode reveals that Jess's middle name is Christopher.
2. The boy on the back of Jess' door is a young Jared Leto.
3. The song the Co-Pays are singing acapella is 'Sabotage' by the Beastie Boys
4. Ryan is written off in this episode due to Morris' commitment as part of the main cast of Hand of God (2014).
