1. Nick would have to have his passport upon entry to Mexico. Jessica would not be able to go back home and retrieve it for him while he is in another country.

Nerd

1. Mark Proksch (Dan) and Angela Kinsey (Rose) previously starred together on The Office (2005).
2. In the start of the episode, after Nick tries to fix Jess' hair, her hair changes positions in-between shots.
3. When Jess's new boss finds her and Nick outside in his back yard and invites them into his new jacuzzi, he puts on some music. The song he plays is "I Don't Wanna Wait" by Paula Cole, which was also the theme song for the show Dawson's Creek. This episode of New Girl features Dreama Walker as one of the teachers Jess is trying to impress. Walker starred in the sitcom Don't Trust the B in Apartment 23 alongside James Van der Beek, who rose to fame as the star of Dawson's Creek.

Double Date

1. Winston (Lamorne Morris) is never physically with the rest of the gang. His cuts were shot separately and the scenes were stitched together in editing. No information as to why has been found.

1. While Nick is drinking in the bar, the song playing in the background is "Sentimental Heart" performed by Zooey Deschanel's band, She & Him.

Keaton

1. For Halloween, Jess dresses up as Joey Ramone-a Quimby. Coincidentally, the actress who played Ramona Quimby in Ramona and Beezus (2010), Joey King, guest-starred back in season 1 episode 14. So Jess' Halloween costume combines King's first name and the character's name that she plays in the movie, even though Jess is actually referencing musician Joey Ramone.
2. When Schmidt hurls the broom, it accidentally sticks in the wall and reveals the fake bricks of the set.

Coach

1. This marks the first appearance of Damon Wayans Jr. as Coach since the show's pilot episode. His previous show, Happy Endings (2011), had been canceled after three seasons, allowing Wayans Jr. to come back to this show.
2. Nick finally calls Jess his "girlfriend".

1. It is revealed that Coach's real name is Ernie.
2. The title of the episode comes from the homonymous song by Maná, which can be heard at the end of the episode, and means "Stuck in a Bar".
3. Winston's look while playing basketball in Latvia is meant to resemble Chicago Bull's Dennis Rodman. Winston is from Chicago.
4. Throughout the show they say Nick dropped out of law school, however in this episode he says he not only finished but took the California bar.

1. This episode was aired to correspond with Zooey Deschanel's real birthday; it was aired on January 21st (Tuesday). Zooey's birthday is January 17th (Friday)

Prince

1. The episode is the sole television acting role of Prince, as well as his sole acting role outside of his own film projects. Prince had been known for regularly turning down all acting requests. This episode was conceived after Prince reached out to the producers and offered to guest star, being a fan of the show.
2. Prior to his guest appearance, Prince told Zooey Deschanel that New Girl was the only television show he watched.
3. By far the most watched episode of the series with 26.3 million viewers, drawn from being the lead-out program of Super Bowl XLVIII.
4. A minor plot point bears a striking resemblance to an episode of The Cosby Show wherein Stevie Wonder's limo hits Denise's car, so he invites the whole family to a recording session as an apology.
5. In the episode Prince asked and feeds Jessica pancakes. In season 2 episode 5 of Chapelle Show, Charlie Murphy recalled a story about playing basketball with Prince after which he offers and serves Charlie and his guest pancakes. Prince didn't appear in the episode, Dave Chapelle portrayed Prince in the reenactment.
6. When Cece and Jess almost got hit by Prince's car, you can notice there is a Minnesota license plate on the vehicle. Prince lived in Chanhassen, Minnesota.
7. Khloe Kardashian and Kris Jenner filmed a cameo for this episode, but the scene was cut because Prince refused to be in the same episode as them.
8. A flashback to Nick's youth reveals that he dressed up and performed a Prince song in his high school days, where he wore eyeshadow. In the beginning and majority of the episode, you can see eyeshadow remnants around Jake Johnson's (Nick's) eyes from where the removed the makeup.

Sister

1. Winston says that Bertie is a Somalian however the correct term is sommelier; a professional wine steward.
2. When Jess' sister taps her empty wine glass the camera changes and her glass is full.

Sister II

1. At one point Schmidt, Max Greenfield, tells Nick, Jake Johnson, that dealing with crazy women is like his Hurt Locker. Jeremy Renner, who starred in Hurt Locker, played Clint Barton (Hawkeye) in the Avengers franchise. Linda Cardellini, who plays Jess's sister Abby Day, also plays Renner's wife Laura Barton.
2. For a brief moment during the dinner scene, Nick's mouth and the audio do not align correctly.

1. The name that Winston uses for his lawyer persona is Ferguson, which is also the name of his cat.

Mars Landing

1. Nick is wearing the same green t-shirt that he wore in the season 2 episode "Cooler" where he and Jess shared their first kiss. At the end of this episode, Jess spins Nick around to hug him in the same way that he spun her around to kiss her in the other episode. Their relationship has effectively been book-ended by his shirt and their respective spins.

Big News

1. This episode showing Winston (Lamorne Morris) being accepted in the police academy aired 4 months before Let's Be Cops (2014) was released starring co-stars Jake Johnson and Damon Wayans Jr.
