- In the scene in Maura's office where she and Jane discuss Sabrina's schizophrenia, Maura takes a book down from her shelves. On the side of the book, opposite from the spine is the name J.Tamaro.
- Frost says that he's a fan of horror movies, and Lee Thompson Young, who played Frost, was also in the 2007 film "The Hills Have Eyes 2".
- Frost mentions that Helen had genealogies from William Hobbs and John Proctor. Both men were accused of witchcraft, though of the two, only John Proctor was executed.

- During the courtroom scene, the defense attorney refers to the murder weapon as "fruit of the poisonous tree." This is a metaphor used in the legal profession to describe evidence obtained illegally or as the result of a warrant obtained due to illegal evidence or testimony.
- When Mr. Stanley is scolding Angela about the jelly touching other doughnuts, there is a doughnut in the case with a bite taken out of it.

- At the reunion, Maura (Sasha Alexander) asks Jane, "Is that your bête noire?" Bête Noire is the title of an episode on NCIS important in Sasha Alexander's character Caitlin Todd's storyline.
- In tue scene where Jane and Frost are searching Rory's car. They are in the trunk with the ALS and the see a spot that floresces. Jane says that it's blood, but blood does not floresce under UV light. It shows up as a black spot because it absorbes the light not reflects it. What the saw could have been among other thing semen but definitely not blood.
- The high school photo of Jane Rizzoli found by Frost is Angie Harmon''s actual high school picture.
