2. The case Agent Burke referred to where a Penrose drain (a tube filled with blood surgically implanted in the arm) was used to falsify a DNA test was that of Dr. John Schneeberger. On October 31st 1992 in Kipling Saskatchewan he drugged a patient with Versed and raped her. He defeated a DNA test 3 times by using another of his patient's blood. The implant was discovered when his wife accused him of raping his 15 year old stepdaughter in 1997. He received a six-year prison sentence, lost his license to practice and was and deported to South Africa in 2004. This case was covered in "The Forensic Files" season 6 episode 16 "Bad Blood" that aired September 17, 2001.

1. When Peter shows the Peter Nevins bio it says that Peter Nevins was born June 12, 1969. Tim Dekays birthday was actually born on June 12 but in 1963 not 1969.
2. When Neal is in the office of Sergei, the portrait on the wall displays Tsar Nikolai II., the last monarch of Russia.

1. The jewel is found in Fort Totten. Supposedly it was named for a Civil War fighter but it also has another meaning. Tot is German for death and considering the lengths that the group went to find the jewel the name is appropriate.
2. In the scene where Neal is negotiating with Rachel/Rebecca about the diamond for mozzie's life, on the bookshelf behind Neal is a copy of Danielle Steel's Jewels. Fitting as the premise of the episode is about a diamond.
