S02E01 Episode aired 13 July 2010
- Tim Matheson plays a fun-loving smart aleck, much like his character in the now classic National Lampoon's Animal House (1978). When Neal and Peter first meet him, he is hitting golf balls practicing his drive. This is a tribute to the scene where he practices his golf drive in National Lampoon's Animal House (1978).
- When being questioned after the season one finale, Matt Bomer mentions he wanted the pick-up of season two to be a little while after Kate died. Jeff Eastin seems to have listened since the start of the episode is almost two months after Kate dies.

- The High School picture seen at the beginning is actually Matt Bomer's High School photo
- When Peter and Mozzie prepare to get the money for Neal, Mozzie gives Peter a list of things to get and then says " that'll do pig, that'll do" This is clearly a double entender, not only is this the line that farmer Hogget says to 'Pig' in the movie 'Babe', it is also a slang term for a police officer.

- When Neal is reading through the syllabus for the criminology class, the section under "Neal Caffery" is about "Adam Goodnoff: Confidence Man". 'Adam Goodnoff' is the second on-set dresser for the 6 episodes of White Collar from Season 2 so far.

- The case revolves around a diner waitress named Gina and her boyfriend Tommy. The Bon Jovi song "Livin' On A Prayer" was also about a diner waitress named Gina and her boyfriend Tommy.
- In this episode, Diane Farr plays a waitress who needs help from the FBI. In "Numbers", Diane Farr played an FBI agent.

- The password into the Old New York Room is "Sunnydale," the same name of the town featured in "Buffy, the Vampire Slayer."
- Elements of this episode mimic the elements of Ian Fleming's first novel "Casino Royale" and the film based on the novel. Specifically the elements of the villain being in debt and playing a card game to win the amount back while the hero is sent in to play to make sure the villain loses.

- The music for the music box had to be dubbed since it wasn't functioning properly while filming.
- The car which belongs to Hale was very loud and Mozzie and Neal's conversation had to be AVR'ed afterwards.
- The friendly slap on the back Neal gives Mozzie was an ad-lib by Matt Bomer.
- When Mozzie enters Neal's apartment and sees June's dog 'Bugsy' with Neal's tracking anklet around his neck he gasps, "Benjamin Siegalbaum" whose nickname was Bugsy. He was one of the most notorious Jewish Mafioso's of the early 20th Century.
- During the big stunt where Neal swings across holding onto the drapery, Matt Bomer mostly did the stunt. His stunt double did the crash through the window.
Burke's Seven

- Neil hands out cards to the forgers with the website address 42685th.com written on them. This is in reference to the place where he'd like for all of them to meet him: 4268 5th Ave. At the time of this episode's original airing, that website address redirected to the Fellowship of Fools website (www.fellowshipoffools.com), which at that time featured a huge White Collar background advertisement and front page media about other USA and SyFy shows (both channels are owned by the same parent company).
- Agent Roe played by Kevin Kilner played the father of Hilarie Burton's character, Peyton Sawyer on One Tree Hill.
- Peter mentions to Neal that he learned about horses growing up in up-state New York. Actor Tim DeKay who plays Peter is in fact from Lansing, in up-state New York.
- The list of names in Larson's file includes Jeni Harden, props production assistant on several episodes of this show.
- While at the marina following Peter's suspension, Neal says to Sarah that "Peter is like Superman without his powers". She replies "so what next Boy Wonder?". Neal then corrects her by saying that "you are confusing your super heroes". Boy Wonder was of course another name for Robin who was Batman's crime fighting partner not Superman's.
Forging Bonds

- The kid Mozzie pays to follow Neal is in fact Willie Garson's own son.
- According to the commentary, Willie Garson left the velcro strips on his head for a few weeks to attach things like his wallet.
- Jeff Eastin mentions in the commentary they wrote the plot of the '91 Bordeaux being bottled in the wrong bottle since he learned after the Pilot they had used the wrong bottle before.
- Jones brings up the Dutchmen as a case when Peter is putting together the special White Collar unit - the case Peter and Neal solve in the Pilot.
- This is the last appearance of Kate.
- In the "Pilot", the FBI's white collar division's office was different to the rest of the series. But, in episode "Forging Bonds", Peter has a flash back to the breaking news of Vincent Adler's disappearance. This flashback uses the modern FBI office.

- In the previous episode' "Forging Bonds" Neal was planning a heist to steal rubies from Burma during a flashback.
- The first time Neal gives up a major piece about his past - that his father was a cop. This will be a major plot point in season four.

- Near the end of this episode, when Peter is looking through June's photo album, one of the photos briefly seen is of June with JFK. The actual picture is of Diahann Carroll(the actress playing June) photographed with President John F. Kennedy in 1962.
- Diahannn Carroll, who plays June, and Billy Dee Williams, guest starring as Ford in this episode, were classmates at the New York City High School of Music & Art.

- In his chess game against Neal, Keller employs the opening known as the Center Counter Defense (also called the Scandinavian Defense). This is one of the oldest recorded openings in chess history, dating back to the year 1475. In chess notation, the opening variation as played is (1. e4 d5 2. exd5 Qxd5 3. Nc3 Qa5).
- At the prison, when Keller tells Neal he owes the Russians $2.5 million. Keller mentions an item worth that amount that Neal stole in Scotland 6 years prior. The actor who plays Keller, Ross McCall, is from Scotland.
- When Lang is looking at his and Kellers fake passports Kellers says his name is Andrew Lincoln which is the name of English actor and Walking Dead star Andrew Lincoln.
Power Play

- When Mozzie is looking at the microfiche, he utters "holy sh&t!" in German ("Heilige Scheisse").
- When Neal is pretending to be Peter at the FBI he asked the real Peter to get him a cup of coffee. When Peter says they have interns for that Neal says " I have something better. I have you " a callback to the second episode of season 1 when Peter tells Neal that when Neal complains about getting a file.
- During a Paleyfest, Matt Bomer and Tim DeKay talk about this episode. Matt jokes that he doesn't have the pectorals Tim has, so to look the part he had to compensate with his back. Tim kept pushing him to go further and further until some of the dailies made him look like a chicken.
- Cody Horn guest stars in this episode. She would later play the love interest of Channing Tatum's character in the movie Magic Mike (2012) in which Matt Bomer was one of the stars.
- Tim DeKay pitched the idea for this episode during the White Collar Live Chat he and Matt Bomer held towards the end of Season One.
Under the Radar
S02E16 Episode aired 8 March 2011
- Andrew McCarthy showed up even on days when he wasn't needed for shooting just to be a part of the process or read off-screen.
- When filming the U-boat in the warehouse, the only thing the actors had to play off was green cones that went around where the U-boat was on screen - the space was basically empty. The U-boat was put in via CGI.
- The box of fake Rolex-es Peter has Neal carrying was actually heavy. Matt Bomer actually asked the props department to make it heavy to make it authentic...which he regretted after a few takes.
- Willie Garson describes his scene with Sara in this episode as him playing the role of the jilted ex.
- Tiffani Theissan (Elizabeth) "ad-libbed" the slap on Tim DeKay's (Peter's) ass.
- The anklet tracking data page Diana looks at when they're trying to locate Neal and Peter lists Neal's birthday as Oct. 11, 1977. This is Matt Bomer's actual birthday.
- The back of the limo was a set and filmed on a different day than the front of the limo which was filmed on location.
- While the TNT in the episode is obviously fake, TNT does actually get massively unstable as it ages.
- Originally it was supposed to be Peter having to get the knife out of Alex's bra while tied up. It was later changed to Neal since it would make more sense with his and Alex's backstory.
- It is confirmed Adler was the one who blew up the plane killing Kate.
- While Neal, Peter, and Alex are trapped at the bottom of the dry dock and the water was turned on, it was actually happening while the actors were down there.
- Andrew McCarthy argued to keep his line of "Shoot them, then get a mop or something."
- There's a small moment as Neal is following Sara into the conference room where you see him check his breathe as he walks in - this episode follows the episode in which they make out in the stacks.
- The door Neal and Peter are having to crack to enter the U-Boat was just basically cardboard and foam - the screws weren't real.
- In this episode, the audience finds out it was Alex's grandfather who gave her the key to the infamous music box. He gave it to her right before he died.
- In the final scene, as Neal surveys the collected Nazi loot, the top of the Ark of the Covenant from Raiders of the Lost Ark (1981) can be seen over his right shoulder.
- The interior of the U-boat was a set - again filmed on a different day than when Neal and Peter were breaking into the U-boat.
