Thirty-Eight Snub

- The pizzas at Jesse's party are uncut, like the pizza Walt throws onto the roof in season 3, episode 2. Badger says the pizza place doesn't cut their pizzas and "passes the savings on to you". Some viewers had said that an uncut pizza was ridiculous--and so does Jesse. Venizia's is a real pizzeria in Albuquerque, but they don't leave their pies uncut. The second appearance of the uncut pizza, and the discussion about it, was apparently made up by screenwriters to answer viewers' remarks about the first one.
- Before Jesse goes to work after the party at his house, the last guy to wake up bears a striking resemblance to Bryan Cranston.
- The snub-nose revolver Walt buys is a double-action Ruger LCR, with a tritium-dot front sight (for low-light conditions) and what appears to be an after-market low-profile grip.
Open House
S04E03 Episode aired 31 July 2011
- The title 'Open House' references the self-destructive ways in which Marie Schrader as well as Jesse Pinkman try to distract themselves from facing their deteriorating lives: Marie by her role playing / kleptomania during actual Open Houses; Jesse by 'opening' his house to derelict meth heads derelicts and partying non-stop.
- When Skyler is negotiating with Bogdan to purchase the car wash for $79,000 less than her original offer, Walter asks "$79,000?! Skyler, do you know how much money I make in a day?"Walter's original deal with Gus was for $3,000,000 for 3 months work (though after he brings Jesse on board and agree to split 50/50 with him, Walter is earning $1,500,000 for 3 months work) Walter is making $16,666.67 per day at this original deal, and negotiating down $79,000 is equivalent to about 4 and a half days worth of work.If we assume Gus still honors his second offer to Walter of $15 million per year to his family, then he is earning $41,095.89 per day, and negotiating down $79,000 is equivalent to about 2 days worth of work.
- In the part from where Jesse is go- karting till he comes home, you hear the song 'If I Had A Heart' by Fever Ray. This song is used as the main theme for 'Vikings' (2013)
- First appearance of comedian Bill Burr.

- The fictional Zafiro Añejo Tequila presented as a gift from Gus to Don Eladio during the Cartel pool scene, is the same Tequila that Saul Goodman and Kim Wexler con a man for a whole bottle, at $150 a shot, in Better Call Saul. Furthermore, the man that Saul cons, Ken Wins, is the obnoxious stock broker from Breaking Bad season 1 episode 4, in which Walt short circuts Kens Red BMW battery causing the entire car to explode.
- The only time in the series Walt accidentally calls Walter Jr. "Jesse".
- The car Walt Jr. receives for his 16th Birthday is a Chrysler PT Cruiser.
- The plane used to fly the crew down to Mexico is a Quest Kodiak 100, an American built light utility turboprop. The registration, XA-8AC, is the proper format for a Mexican registered aircraft.
- The gift that Gus Fring gives to Eladio Vuente, Zafiro Añejo is a fictional brand of rare tequila. The writers of the show invented it when they were unable to secure a real product for the scene; no company wanted their product to be the one that poisoned Vuente and his men in the scene.
- Walt asks Walt Jr. how his sixteenth birthday is going sixteen minutes into the episode.
Crawl Space

- The electronic pulse in the last scene is the sound of the invisible Id monster's footfalls from "Forbidden Planet" (1956).
- When Ted falls and bumps his head at the counter, you can see oranges falling from the top. The presence of oranges foreshadows the death of a character.
- This episode ends in the exact sane manner as the last episode Felina(2013).

- The writing on the page in the notebook that the agent flips past says: WANT SCHRADER SCHRADER WHERE SCHRADER.
- While Walt is in the car, waiting for news, he is listening to Coyote 102.5 FM. Coyote 102.5 FM (KIOT) is a real FM radio station in Albuquerque, NM.
- The song playing as Gus walks to Hector's room is called Goodbye by Sascha Ring aka Apparat.
- The make-up and visual effect of Gus Fring's death was done with assistance from the special effects team from fellow AMC drama The Walking Dead (2010).
- The scene of Gus's death appears to be in one take but it is actually two separate shots. The explosion is one shot. The dolly shot of Gus's face and collapse is another. Vince Gilligan demanded 19 takes of the second shot to get it exactly right so that the two shots could be blended seamlessly. The 19th take is the one that appears in the episode.
- The title "Face-off" refers also to Gus' death where half of his face is blown off in the explosion.
- Ironically, Walt and Gus never come face to face in this episode, in spite of the title "Face-Off"
