- Sam (Bruce Campbell) describes Carter (Wade Williams) as the "guy who looks like he's made out of scrap metal". Wade Williams previously played a character in a Season 8 episode of The X-Files who was a man who's body was slowly turning in to metal. Bruce Campbell had also appeared in an unrelated previous episode of The X-Files.

Jonathan Frakes who played Commander William T Riker in "Star Trek: The Next Generation" has directed several episodes of "Burn Notice" and even appeared on screen as a driver in the episode "Beseiged" (uncredited).

- Fiona Glenanne makes references to having dinner at The Forge, a restaurant owned by Gabrielle Anwar's real-life boyfriend Shareef Malnik.
- The character Dan Tesmond is an anagram of Edmond Dantès, the main character who was framed by his best friend, in the Alexandre Dumas novel "The Count of Monte Cristo"
- Under interrogation the character Lucien (played by Patrick Bauchau) mentions "a man with white hair, like albino." In the TV series "The Pretender" (that both Patrick Bauchau and Jeffrey Donovan had roles in) there was a character named "Gare" with very white hair. The character was once referred to as "The Snow Man" because of his hair colour.
- Patrick Bauchau "Lucien Balan", who is interrogated by Michael and Sam was one of the main characters on "The Pretender (1996)". Jeffrey Donovan played in 3 episodes of The Pretender in 1997-1998.
- James Frain, who plays the man who betrayed his friend and took over his life, also played the character Villefort, one of the people responsible for Edmond Dantes betrayal, in the 2002 movie the Count of Monte Cristo based on the classic novel by Alexander Dumas.

- Jeffrey Donovan and Michael T. Weiss used to play together in few episodes (S1.E21/S1.E22/S2.E19) of "The Pretender". Jeffrey Donovan was the main character's brother "Kyle".
- Michael T. Weiss is not the first cast member from the TV show "The Pretender" to appear in "Burn Notice". Patrick Bauchau who played Sydney Green in "The Pretender" played Lucien in the episode "Eye for an Eye".

- When Michael, Fi, Oswald and Sherry are escaping her house, a 3rd SUV pulls up, and is a current-generation (GMT-900, 2007-present) Cadillac Escalade. but in the very next scene, people are climbing out of a ten-year-old (GMT-400, 1999-2000) Cadillac Escalade. This SUV "swap" was also seen in Season 4: Episode 12 "Guilty as Charged"
