Cullen Davis was a Texas oil heir who was arrested but acquitted in 1977 for the murder-for-hire of his estranged wife's daughter and boyfriend (the wife was wounded and survived). He was arrested again in 1978 for soliciting the murder of the same estranged wife and the judge overseeing their ongoing divorce, but he was again acquitted after forensic discourse analysis concluded that his words in the recorded conversation with the undercover operative posing as a hitman did not constitute solicitation.

        Double Booked

        S02E08 Episode aired 11 September 2008
        1. After Larry leaves Sam and Michael, having suggested substantial amounts of murder, Sam says "That's our Larry." This is likely a reference to Mel Brooks "The Producers" (2005), where, while holding auditions for the play being produced, the lead is chosen with the line "That's our Hitler!"
        2. In the ambulance Sam tells Finona "Well he's no Campbell" Sam is played by Bruce Campbell.
        3. When Larry Sizemore (Tim Matheson) finds out that Drew booked additional hitmen to kill his stepmother Jeannie (hence the episode's title), he gets angry and says "Drew--dead! Jeannie--dead! The houseguest--dead!" This monologue is a reference to the following exchange between Bluto (played by John Belushi) and Otter (played by Matheson) in Animal House (1978): Bluto: "Wormer, he's a dead man! Marmalard, DEAD! Niedermeyer--" Otter: "Dead!"
        4. Tim Matheson directed several episodes of Burn Notice, including this one, and also plays Larry who's first appearance is in this episode

        Good Soldier

        S02E09 Episode aired 18 September 2008
        1. When Sam is describing Carla's breaststroke, he says, "That woman can swim. She's a machine." Tricia Helfer played the Cylon Number 6, a machine, in Battlestar Galactica.
        2. The last photo in the file in Carla's room was of Micheal Shanks. Micheal Shanks plays the role of Victor in the rest of the season.

        Do No Harm

        S02E10 Episode aired 22 January 2009

          Hot Spot

          S02E11 Episode aired 29 January 2009
          1. The "phone-book bulletproofing" was tested by Mythbusters (Coll. 7; Ep. 8). They proved that the set-up used would protect from small arms fire used in the ambush scene. (Note: but not against heavy weapons like shotgun slugs or high-powered rifles)
          2. Sam Axe (Bruce Campbell) at one point says "You know, for the kids." This is a direct reference to The Hudsucker Proxy (1994) in which Campbell plays a supporting role. The line is a slightly different version of the movie's famous, oft-uttered line: "You know, for kids." Sam says "You know, for THE kids" because he's referring to 2 kids specifically (Corey and Tanya, the kids he's helping out) unlike in 'Hudsucker' where the line refers to kids in general.

The native language in Haïti is Creole, yet Fiona spoke only French. French is a secondary language for Haitians.
