    1. The series received an initial order of 13 episodes. Because early episodes got mediocre ratings, the writers wrote this episode so that, if the show got cancelled, they could gracefully end the series with Victoria being the mother. The plan was to have Ted enter the bakery, Victoria saying, "Oh, thank God.", them kissing, and then older Ted saying in a voiceover, "And that, kids, is the story of How I Met Your Mother."
    2. Bob Saget, who voices old Ted, has one of his real wedding photos shown at the beginning of this episode

Apart from How I Met Your Mother: Pilot (2005), and until the airing of the sixth season episode How I Met Your Mother: Hopeless (2011), this was the only episode to feature a different title sequence than the rest of the series, using a shorter version of the theme tune presumably to allow for more commercial time. The flying 'How I Met Your Mother' text seen in the pilot is used, accompanied by a shorter rendition of the normal theme music. The first two bars of the theme are shortened from eight to four notes, which then cuts to the ending of the normal theme.
    4. After Barney decides to "suit up" he tied his tie in a four-in-hand style. A simple and easy to use knot.
    5. Marshal says he kept the best part of backgammon, the gammon and threw the rest in the trash. 6. Hippie Barney passes a restaurant "Imamura's Japanese Cuisine" after his confrontation with Shannon and Greg
    7. During the game, Lily says 'what' twice. At the bar, Lily says what twice, Ted says it once, and Barney says it once. None of them are caught and forced to drink.
