Flux: Chapter One - The Halloween Apocalypse

Flux: Chapter Two - War of the Sontarans

  1. Skaaak mentions Lynx as the Sontaran who claimed Earth. Lynx was the Sontaran in the 70s serial 'The Time Warrior', who claimed Earth for the Sontaran Empire.
  2. At one point in the episode, Mary Seacole asks the Doctor where she's going, to which the Doctor replies, "half a league onwards". This is a direct quote from the poem "The Charge of the Light Brigade" by Alfred Tennyson, a poem written about the Crimean War, in which a good portion of the episode takes place.

Flux: Chapter Three - Once, Upon Time

  1. When Yaz is playing the video game against the Angel, the weapon seen is based off of Rick Deckard's gun in Blade Runner (1982).
  2. In the very beginning of episode 1, when we first meet Dianne, she and Dan have a conversation outside of the museum she works at. On the staircase behind them,there's a blue design resembling Karvanista's weapon. In this episode, while Dan is slipping through his timestream, there's another scene of him and Dianne similarly having a conversation on a staircase in front of a large building, except now there appears to be a Lupari face built into the design of the wall.
  3. In the Doctor's time stream her three companions take on the place of the fugitive Doctor's team. Based on what we learned in this episode and in Doctor Who: Fugitive of the Judoon (2020), Dan is Karvanista, Vinder is Lee Clayton and Yaz is Gat.

  1. The action mainly takes place on [Tuesday] 21st November 1967 - exactly 54 years earlier than the date of this episode's original BBC1 transmission in 2021.
  2. Blake Harrison is the second lead actor from The Inbetweeners (2008) to appear in Doctor Who after James Buckley appeared in Series 12's Doctor Who: Orphan 55 (2020). Harrison played Neil Sutherland, while Buckley played Jay Cartwright.

    Eve of the Daleks

    1. The first time Sarah is confronted by the Dalek, it says "I am not Nick". This is obviously an in- joke, since Nicholas Briggs provides the voices for the Daleks.
    2. With an overnight audience of 3.21 million this story was the lowest rated episode since 2005 at time of broadcast.
    3. According to Chris Chibnall in a 2022 Radiotimes interview; the original plan for the special was something larger scale and presumably tied to the prior two Dalek centric stories. However with the addition of an Easter special the budget they were given did not accommodate these plans and a new version of the story had to be written in a week before production.
    4. When the Doctor discovers the store of explosives in Elf Storage, she says "That's the most gunpowder I've seen since 1605." That was the year of the infamous Gunpowder Plot (still commemorated on Bonfire Night/Guy Fawkes Day in England). In a couple of earlier video games, the Doctor (11th and 13th) was involved in this historical event.

    Legend of the Sea Devils

    1. The Sea Devils appear in two previous stories: Doctor Who: The Sea Devils: Episode One (1972) and Doctor Who: Warriors of the Deep: Part One (1984). They are cousins of the Silurians, who appear in several other stories.
    2. At just 47 minutes long, this is the shortest Doctor Who special episode in the series' history. It runs shorter than some regular episodes.
    3. This is only the second Doctor Who Easter special, after "Planet of the Dead" 13 years earlier. Unlike Planet of the Dead, no mention is made here of the holiday.
    4. When Yaz and the Doctor swing from the Sea Devil's ship to Madame Ching's the Doctor yells out, "Geronimo!" This was a favorite catchphrase of the Eleventh Doctor.
    5. Zheng Yi Sao (1775-1844) born Shi Yang, a.k.a. Shi Xianggu, also known as Ching Shih, was a Chinese pirate leader who was active in the South China Sea from 1801 to 1810. "Wikipedia"

    Centenary Special

    1. This episode will mark the 100th anniversary of the BBC
    2. This will be the final episode to feature Jodie Whittaker as the Doctor.
    3. This feature length special will be a major milestone of the entire history of the show:- A centenary anniversary for the British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC) The 300th televised story and the penultimate special to the 60th anniversary.
    4. Tegan Jovanka's and Ace's first appearance since Doctor Who: Resurrection of the Daleks: Part Two (1984) and Doctor Who: Survival: Part Three (1989) respectively. Although both characters had already appeared in numerous audio stories by Big Finish Productions, this is the first time that both appear in the revival series.
    5. The first time since the show's revival that the Master, the Cybermen and the Daleks are all featured in one episode.
    6. The second Doctor Who special to have UNIT, Tegan Jovanka, the Daleks, the Cybermen and the Master all appearing together since Doctor Who: The Five Doctors (1983).
