    2. The episode was originally scheduled to air in its regular half-hour time slot, but NBC later announced it would be expanded to fill an hour time slot beginning a half hour early, although it still counts as one official episode, similar to the earlier season episode "Moving On". Rogers noted that "we knew the last two episodes would be hour-longs, and The Finale might even end up running longer, but we still had a lot of great storytelling to do leading up to them, and 'Livin' the Dream' was one that ultimately deserved to be an hour long episode as well!"

    A.A.R.M.

    S09E22 Episode aired 9 May 2013
    1. In Poor Richard's Bar, when the documentary first starts airing, the documentary is actually the very first scene of the series from the pilot episode with Michael talking to Jim about closing a sale with a library. The scene ends with Michael closing the previously mentioned sale as well as mistaking the woman on the phone for a man, blaming her smoker's voice for the confusion.
    2. Several specific shots and scenes in this episode are similar to other moments in the series' history: the shot in which Jim and Dwight survey the office in Dwight's office directly references a scene in the season 3 premiere, "Gay Witch Hunt", in which Michael and Dwight try to figure out which office workers are gay; Dwight using his fake car siren to pull Angela over resembles a scene in the season 6 episode "Delivery", in which Dwight attempts to give Jim and Pam an escort to the hospital using the same method. Additionally, the A.A.R.M. challenge in which Phyllis and Dwight have to run cups of hot coffee through an obstacle course is similar to a game the workers play in the season 2 episode "Office Olympics", though the producers have stated that this resemblance in particular was unintentional.
    3. The idea to have Jim finally give Pam his card had been considered in the writers' room for some time, but only during "A.A.R.M." did the writers feel it was the right time. The card and envelope was the same one used for "Christmas Party" almost seven years prior. In fact, the card contained a genuine message that Krasinksi wrote for Fischer. Rogers admitted that the Pam and Jim video was inspired by a number of fan videos that exist on the internet. The reason that "Open Your Eyes" by Snow Patrol plays over the video is that Claire Scanlon, the series editor, felt that it was similar in style to "Sing" by Travis, which played in the second season episode "The Banker".
    4. This episode guest stars Aaron Rodgers, Clay Aiken, Mark McGrath, Santigold, and Jessica St. Clair. In order to get them, the show reached out to "a small group of celebrities that the producers thought would be good". Both Aiken and Santigold accepted. Baumgartner then asked Rodgers, who was a friend, and he accepted. McGrath later became available, and he was chosen as well.
    5. Dale Waddington played Kaitlyn, the church lady who denied Phillip into day care. Due to time constraints the scene got cut.
    6. The obstacle course in the warehouse was crafted by Rogers and Forrester, with input from the show's art department. Wilson also helped, since he eventually was the one who ran through it; it was his idea to have the course terminate on a raised palette of boxes. Originally, the course was supposed to be in the park lot, but Rogers moved it, feeling that the warehouse was "more organic" and that the heat would have been detrimental to the finished product.
    7. Angela's son, Phillip, was played by twins Vince and Evan Edwards. The child that filmed the scene in which Phillip picked the beet was only supposed to point to the beet. In the end, the child said "beet!", which Rogers called "amazing".

    Finale

    S09E23 Episode aired 16 May 2013
    1. The actor who plays Meredith's son in this episode is the same actor who played her son during Season Two, in the episode "Take Your Daughter to Work Day".
    2. NBC ran a series of on-line "where are they now" articles after the series finale to discuss what happened to various characters. Amongst other things, Gabe Lewis ended up working for a Chinese corporate program that rented out Caucasian men to appear more friendly to Western investors (where Gabe was ordered to be seen and NOT heard), Toby Flenderson took a job as the HR director at a TJ Maxx store, and Angela and Dwight remained married and had three more children.
    3. When Jim gives the limo driver the address of Kevin's bar he says "3030 Adams". The address is, in fact, one of the entrances to the campus of Marywood University which is located in Scranton, Pennsylvania.
    4. Dwight mentions that Creed was a member of the band "the Grassroots" in the 1960's. The actor who plays Creed, Creed Bratton, was in fact a member of this band in the 1960's.
    5. Though not regonized by Dwight, the stripper at his bachelor party is in fact "Elizabeth the Stripper", the same stripper hired by Dwight in Season 3, Episode 10 "Phyliss' Wedding" to preform at Bob Vance's bachelor party.
    6. In the original script, Jim was supposed to prank Dwight one last time with an extravagant Matrix scheme; this was cut out most likely because they were short for time.
    7. During Dwight's wedding, Motley Crue's song "Angela" can be heard as they dance. Besides the obvious choice of using this song for his new bride Angela, this may also be an homage to Dwight's love of the band. He used to head bang (in preparation of a new sale) to Motley Crue's "Kickstart My Heart".
    8. Actress Dakota Johnson, who starred in the movie Fifty Shades of Grey, appears in this episode. Earlier in the season, Phyllis was listening to the audio book.
    9. The realtor seen in this episode selling Jim and Pam's house, is Carol, one of Michaels girlfriends from earlier in the series
    10. The last line of the series is said by Pam: "I thought it was weird when you picked us to make a documentary. But, all in all, I think an ordinary paper company like Dunder Mifflin was a great subject for a documentary. There's a lot of beauty in ordinary things. Isn't that kinda the point?"
    11. Directed by Ken Kwapis, who directed many episodes in the series including the pilot, the very first episode.
    12. It won an Emmy Award for Outstanding Single Camera Picture Editing for a Comedy Series.

    15. The song played by the band as Angela walks down the aisle is Sweet Child O' Mine by Guns N' Roses.
    16. The panel audience member who asks Pam how she could doubt Jim is Jennie Tan who runs the fan site officetally.com She asked the producers if she could be in the finale and they said yes.
    17. The panel audience member who asks "What was in that teapot letter" is executive producer Dan Sterling.
    18. The panel audience member who asks "How did if feels to see your lives played out of TV" is director/producer/writer Brent Forrester.
    19. When the men are going off to Dwight's bachelor party in the limo, Oscar goes "wazaaaaa" just as Michael did in [error], the series' first episode.
    20. Casting director Allison Jones plays the woman guarding PBS swag at the warehouse party.
    21. Editor Claire Scanlon can be seen at the warehouse party. She won an Emmy for editing this episode.
    22. Steve Carell reprises his role as Michael Scott, he speaks only two lines of dialogue: "That's what she said" and "It's like my kids have grown up and married each other, it's every parents dream".
    23. In the table read for the episode, Michael's last line was given to Creed.
    24. When everyone is taking a group photo in the warehouse party, Greg Daniels, show writer and credit as a creator, is one of the PBS executives. He is seen between Pam and Clarke
