My Jerks
S08E01 Episode aired 6 January 2009
- Courteney Cox had suggested the premise of the show Cougar Town to show runner Bill Lawrence, her 3 episode arc on Scrubs was almost an audition to see if Bill Lawrence enjoyed working with her. He obviously did seeing as Bill Lawrence became the show runner for Cougar Town starting the next year.
- JD breaks the fourth wall by pointing to the ABC bug when commenting on the janitors watch.
- This was the first episode broadcast on ABC.
- Courtney Cox is one of the main cast in Friends, the show which this show's main cast had referenced on several occasions.
My Last Words
S08E02 Episode aired 6 January 2009
- When talking about death, Turk and JD say their first day in heaven will be by the milkshake pool on the lesbian cloud. This is not a new plan. They mention this exact same plan in the season episode Scrubs: My Way Home (2006)
- Even though John C. McGinley doesn't appear in this episode, you can hear his voice as Mr Harris.
- Christa Miller (Jordan) and Courtney Cox (Dr. Maddox) talk about going out for drinks because "cougars" drink for free. Both actresses star on the show "Cougar Town".
- When Turk mentions playing football, he says he played football as a safety. Donald Faison who plays Turk also starred in Remember the Titans. In the movie, he plays Petey Jones, a running back that is switched to safety.
- Dr. Cox, Elliott, Janitor, or Kelso did not appear in this episode.
- Seventeenth death in the series.
- The "Steak Night" song that was sung by JD and Turk was created by Zach Braff and Donald Fasion, but the accompanying dance was inspired by the song "Time to Change" performed by The Brady Bunch Kids in The Brady Bunch: Dough Re Mi (1972).
My Saving Grace

- Dr. Maddox says to Dr. Cox, "Alright Dr. Cox, ridiculous name by the way..." The actress who plays Dr. Maddox is Courteney Cox also the way she says it is the fact that his name might be a slang for make genatalia.
- Turk does not appear in this episode.
My Happy Place
S08E04 Episode aired 13 January 2009
- Mr. and Mrs. Halford, (the kidney transplant patients) are played by real life husband and wife actors, Scott Rinker and Cathleen Kaelyn. Crew members thought the two were extremely "method actors" until they discovered the two had been married for nearly 20 years.
- The episode title, "My Happy Place," is also the name of the theme song of "Corner Gas," a Canadian sitcom that used the same style of cutaway/fantasy scenes as "Scrubs."
- The kidney transplant couple, Mr. and Mrs. Halford, are played by real life husband and wife, Scott Rinker and Cathleen Kaelyn. Crew members didn't know they were actually married and at first mistook them for "very method" actors.
- When J.D. and Elliot are talking about their relationship and he gives examples on the kind of couple they don't have to be she notices that he watched the Friends marathon. Courtney Cox who starred as Monica in Friends guest starred as Dr. Maddox
My ABC's
S08E05 Episode aired 27 January 2009
- Caroll Spinney who was best known for his voice of Big Bird only voices Oscar this is the first time outside the series that Spinney only voices one character.
- Cookie Monster and Big Bird are the only Muppets that do not appear as well as Bert and Ernie.
- JD and Turk watch Sesame Street with Izzy at the beginning of the episode. Various Sesame Street characters appear in JD's daydreams throughout the episode.
- Even though in an earlier episode, Jo is butch and "unfriendly", in this episode it sounds like she's pretending to be a "nice girl"! So the story is changing!
My Cookie Pants
S08E06 Episode aired 27 January 2009
- When JD dances on his piano mat to play a quick tune, he plays the last few notes of the intro song where the lyrics go "I'm no superman." He then says "That's catchy."
- In episode 303 "My White Whale" Dr. Norris, played by Christopher Meloni, has a puppet named "Mr. Cookie Pants".
- JD talks to Denise about the "patient who died of lung cancer last Monday". This was in reference to the previous week's episode.
My New Role

- Carla is the only person on Dr. Cox's "Always allowed" list. JD, Hooch, and Jordan are on the "Never Ever allowed" list although JD briefly removes his name. Everyone else, including a Dr. Rotinaj (Janitor spelled backwards, even though Janitor is on the list as well), are on the "Sometimes allowed" list.
- Turk (Donald Faison) doesn't appear in this episode
My Lawyer's in Love

- Dr. Cox treats a patient with Down Syndrome and John C. McGinley is still wearing his Down Syndrome awareness bracelet for his own son.
- The song Ted(Sam Lloyd) and Gooch(Kate Micucci) sing on the couch is an original song from her(Micucci) comedy band Garfunkle and Oates.
- Doctor Cox has a red Swingline stapler in his office. John C. McGinley was in the movie Office Space (1999), which made this stapler famous.
- Elliot (Sarah Chalke) and Turk (Donald Faison) do not appear in this episode.
- Jack staples his clothes to the wall over a stick figure child and tells his parents "I finally have a brother!" Andrew Miller - Jack - has a twin brother named Jakob.

- Features a clip from SportsCenter ESPN and ABC which airs Scrubs are owned by Disney.
- The episode is titled after the jingle on SportsCenter.

- DIRECTOR_CAMEO(Bill Lawrence): Director / Writer Lawrence makes a cameo appearance as the officiant who marries the Janitor and Lady.
- First episode to have no fantasies.
- Before her fight with JD, Elliot is seen reading "The Two Towers" by J.R.R. Tolkien.
- The Janitor's name is almost revealed in this episode but he is interrupted before he can finish.
- Bill Lawrence's character is named "Van" as a reference to his middle name, Van Duzier.

My Finale: Part 1

- The rant referenced in Dr. Cox's rant book is from Season 4 episode 1.
- After Elliot states that she has slept at JDs new house every night since he moved, JD states "So we live together." Followed by "I feel like I should've been told." These are the exact lines Michael J Fox's character Michael says in the pilot of Spin City when his girlfriend tells him that she never renewed her lease since she had spent every night at Michael's apartment. Spin City was another creation of Bill Lawrence. Also the main cast of Spin City, minus Connie Britton, often guest starred on Scrubs.
My Finale: Part 2

- The final episode of season 8 set a record for the most recurring characters appearing in one episode. Over 40 actors reprise their past roles during the scene where J.D. walks down the halls of Sacred Heart for the last time.
- DIRECTOR_CAMEO(Bill Lawrence): The director is seen as the janitor who wishes J.D. goodnight as he leaves Sacred Heart for the last time.
- The Janitor tells JD that his name is Glenn Matthews. Neil Flynn, who plays the Janitor does the voice of a Janitor named Glenn in an episode of Clone High (2002). Clone High was also a show by Bill Lawrence.
- Last episode to feature Judy Reyes as Carla.
- This is the highest rated episode of this series.
- This is the last season at the old Sacred Heart as Season 9 takes place at the new one
- When JD starts his car to leave Sacred Heart for the last time, the engine cranks and turns over. When you start a Prius, the gas engine rarely starts when you first turn on the car and doesn't make the same cranking sound as a regular car. Usually you hear nothing when you start it.
- The Janitor finally reveals to J.D. that his real name is Glenn Matthews. When J.D. walks away, another doctor walks by and calls him "Tommy". In an interview, Bill Lawrence states that his name *was* Glen Matthews.
