My Case Study

- This episode features the return of the original, shorter title sequence, after fan backlash. This sequence remained the same, with the occasional, small variation until the final season's changes.
- Before Dr. Mickhead was a regular on the show he was just an uncredited extra. In this episode you can clearly see Dr. Kelso shake the future Dr. Mickhead's hand and call him Dr. Carlson because he had not yet been named Dr. Mickhead or maybe before he was Dr. Mickhead he was known as Dr. Carlson.
- Elliot, trying to convince Carla they have a lot in common says "we both have a hard time digesting dairy" and Carla sarcastically replies "you're right, do you wanna be my maid of honor?" Elliot later would actually be Carla's maid of honor.

- While on rounds, Dr. Kelso asks, "can anyone tell me the dermatologic condition associated with rhinophyma?" and calls on Doug to answer. Rhinophyma is a condition where the nose gets large and "bulbous," and is caused by untreated rosacea, which makes the face red, or in other words, a large red nose. Coincidentally, Doug is wearing a fake red clown nose for Halloween.
- When Dr. Turk is advising Dr. Wen to be 'Dr. Zen', he replies that he has done 10,000 surgeries in 15 years this means that Dr.Zen has performed 666.66 surgeries per year, fitting with the Halloween theme.
- First appearance of Dan Dorian.
- The answer Dr. Kelso is looking for when he asks about the dermatological condition associated with rhinophyma is untreated rosacea.

My Fruit Cups

- When JD fantasies the OB/GYN girls as a sorority, their letters are Omega Beta Gamma (OBG).
- The actress who plays Jordan (Christa Miller) is actually pregnant with her second child with Scrubs creator Bill Lawrence.
- In online syndication, every one of the songs has been changed, likely due to royalty restrictions.
- Even though they do a good job "blocking out" all the license plates in the series, if you look closely, they say "Drive Safely" where the name of the state usually is found, though it's in the style of the California state license plates. This is one of the ways they keep the anonymity of what state the show is suppose to be set in.
- When Carla goes off on JD for interrupting her phone call and starts listing off issues she's dealing with, she mentions still having to go home to put out canned food for her cat. This is the first and last time the cat is mentioned.
My Lucky Day

- The house in which JD's flashback is set, (with his dad played by John Ritter), is also the house used in Ritter's comedy 8 Simple Rules (2002).
- This is the first episode in which the Janitor does not make an appearance.
- The premise of this episode for JD is that he makes a rare diagnosis of necrotizing fasciitis, but just a couple episodes previously, Eliot was upset over a patient with that same diagnosis who died after she elected for surgery.
- In this episode there is a flashback of JD and his dad where he gives JD a bicycle bell and then says he will give him different parts each year. The background set of this flashback is the 8 Simple Rules living room, which he was starring in at the time.

His Story
S02E15 Episode aired 30 January 2003
- First of several episodes told from the perspective of a character other than JD.
- The title of the episode (His story) reflects that this episode is told from the perspective of Dr. Cox and not J.D. Most of the episodes start the title with "My" (ex. My Fruit Cups).
- John C. McGinley and Eric Bogosian both starred in Talk Radio (1988) together.
- First episode not to have "My" in the title.
My Karma
S02E16 Episode aired 6 February 2003
- This marks the first episode in which the Janitor interacts with any main cast member other than J.D. (After harassing J.D. as usual, he tells off Turk for being with him.) The writers had originally toyed with the idea of revealing the Janitor to be a figment of J.D.'s imagination.
- As Elliot unleashes into a fast-paced monologue explaining why she's insane to Paul, she brings up how she talks to her cat(s) - mentioning both singularly, and then plurally in the following sentence (saying they respond in her mother's voice). Elliot's cat(s) is/are never actually seen, nor mentioned before or after this episode.

- In the episode, Ted's group sing a jingle to Elliot from Paul Flowers, it goes, "the best part of waking up is Elliot in your cup". Donald Faison's first TV appearance was on a Folgers Coffee advert which featured the same jingle but with the word 'Folgers' in place of 'Elliot'.
- This is the first time we see J.D. drinking his signature drink: an appletini.
- When Dr. Cox adds the plate to Dr. Kelso's portrait, his birth year reads 1947. In actuality, Ken Jenkins (who plays Dr. Kelso) was born in 1940.
- A later episode features this fantasy but with the roles reversed where Turk is dressed and JD is shirtless.
My Interpretation
S02E20 Episode aired 3 April 2003
- Sarah Chalke's German is actually much better than that of the two actors playing the Germans. The translations of the German sentences is pretty much accurate; Sarah Chalke's two untranslated lines are as follows: the milkmaid line is, "Good morning, would you like to milk the cows?" and the hausfrau line is, "Eat your schnitzel, or you won't get a dessert!" In the German dubbed version, the Muellers are called Olsen, they're from Denmark and speak Danish.
My Drama Queen

- Sixth death in the series as well as the first death of a family member in this case Carla's mother.
- When J.D. (Zach Braff) is talking to Elliot (Sarah Chalke) about not showing up at his apartment "drunk, naked and crying," the side of her drink reads "Naked."
