The One After Vegas

S06E01 Episode aired 23 September 1999
  1. Because of Courteney Cox and David Arquette's marriage, the opening credits had Courteney billed first above Jennifer and the main cast members and show's creators had the name "Arquette" after their names.
  2. The closing credits read: "To Courteney and David", who did get married.
  3. While Joey is driving the cab through the desert you can hear the music of Taxi Driver (1976)
  4. The first episode with the yellow stand mixer in Monica & Rachel's apartment. Up until now it had been a black mixer.
  5. At the beginning of this episode as Joey and Phoebe run into the chapel, they are heard speaking but their mouths aren't moving.

    The One on the Last Night

    S06E06 Episode aired 4 November 1999
    1. First of 10 episodes directed by David Schwimmer
    2. One of the few episodes of Friends featuring only the six main cast. No supporting characters or extras were used in this episode.
    3. The Big White Dog now lives with Chandler and Monica.
    4. The Magna Doodle has a night time scene with a wolf and cactus on a hill. The wolf is baying at a sliver of a moon, with stars and a meteor shower.

    The One Where Phoebe Runs

    1. The Magna Doodle has a 4x4 truck high-centered on small hill with two muscular stick figure men are on opposite ends of the truck and in giant letters "OOPS!" is written above it all.
    2. As of this episode, Rachel is the only regular to live in all four main apartments. She lived in Monica's for the first five seasons, Joey/Chandler's during the apartment switch and later in the series, Phoebe's throughout the sixth season, and Ross' after Emma is born.

    The One with Ross' Teeth

    S06E08 Episode aired 18 November 1999
    1. Janine mentions Anne Geddes as the artist who completed the portrait on the wall in her and Joey's apartment. Geddes is an Australian artist who creates stylized portraits of babies. The one featured in this episode is called "Waterlily".
    2. Phoebe is wearing the same shirt worn by Willow on Buffy the Vampire Slayer a week earlier in the episode, "Wild at Heart".
    3. Phoebe asks "What am I supposed to do ask every guy I make out with if he's married?" That's exactly what Lisa Kudrow's character does in the movie P.S. I Love You.
    4. The Magna Doodle has a unicorn and two hearts.

    The One Where Ross Got High

    S06E09 Episode aired 25 November 1999
    1. In the uncut dvd version, Elliot Gould (who plays Jack Geller) mentioned that this was his favorite episode.
    2. The dessert that Rachel makes list banana and beef as ingredients, which Joey finds delicious. Matt LeBlanc played Captain Don West in Lost in Space the year before this episode aired in which he opens a food packet which is Banana Beef flavoured, asking who makes up these combinations.
    3. In defense of her traditional English trifle containing meat, Rachel mentions mincemeat pie (also "mince meat", "Christmas pie") as another traditional English dessert containing meat. However and despite the name, modern varieties and recipes of mincemeat pie do not contain meat. Although some culinary traditionalists have promoted the reintroduction of meat as an ingredient, it has not been included for centuries. Instead they usually contain apples, raisins, brown sugar, spices and other ingredients usually associated with sweet desserts.
    4. The game Joey and Ross are playing at the beginning of the episode is Twisted Metal 2 for the Sony PlayStation.
    5. Phoebe brings in a turkey decal despite being the only vegetarian of the group.
    6. Despite making the trifle, Rachel is never seen eating it. Phoebe opts out of eating it, but only because it contains beef, and she's a vegetarian.
    7. The meat in Rachel's dessert was ingeniously disguised cookie. The actors did actually have to consume it, and even though, as Joey put it, "vomiting stories are funny", no one wants to eat it.
    8. First time Judy and Jack show any real disappointment in Ross's behavior and actually said it to him. They still gave Monica her usual dose but at least it was evenly spread among the siblings.

    The One with the Routine

    S06E10 Episode aired 16 December 1999
    1. The episode opens with the decorating of Monica's Christmas tree, although Monica and Ross are Jewish. However, the creators have stated that it's their father, Jack, who is Jewish, and not their mother, so it's likely that they incorporated elements of Christmas as well as Hanukkah into their family celebrations. It would also be for Chandler who isn't Jewish.
    2. The song 'Every Word Means No' by Smash Mouth playing at the beginning of the Rockin' New Year's Eve taping was also used in the first scene of Danny's party in TOW Ross Moves In.
    3. This is the first time it's revealed that the door in the back of Monica's apartment is a closet door. In this episode, it has a Christmas wreath and Rachel searches the closet for presents.
    4. The Magna Doodle has a person with a Santa hand puppet saying Ho Ho Ho.
    5. This takes place in December 1999.
    6. Patrick Bristow and Courtney Cox acted together in the beginning of The Longest Yard. He frees her from the closet after Crewe (Adam Sandler) locks her in

    The One with the Apothecary Table

    S06E11 Episode aired 6 January 2000
    1. As a result of the Pottery Barn product placement in this storyline, Pottery Barn catalog sales go up every time this episode is shown in syndication.
    2. Unofficially, also known as "The one with the Pottery Barn" and/or "The one with the Product Placement".
    3. The Magna Doodle has a great picture of Godzilla and King Kong on the Empire State Building.
    4. Joey's Big White Dog is now living on Monica and Chandler's balcony.
    5. Final appearance of Janine Lecroix.

    The One with the Joke

    S06E12 Episode aired 13 January 2000
    1. The customer at the coffee bar that overhears Joey say, "sorry, this seat's saved" is JD Lewis. He is one of the top acting coaches in the world.
    2. The movie that Joey is watching when Monica and Chandler find him in their apartment is Ray Harryhausen's "The Beast From 20,000 Fathoms".
    3. Although there's no evidence as to who really created the joke, Ross has tried to claim certain ideas as his own several times throughout the series. One notable instance is when he tries to convince his students that Jurassic Park was his idea.
    4. The Magna Doodle has an Elk and a Hunter.

    The One with Rachel's Sister

    S06E13 Episode aired 3 February 2000
    1. Lex Arquette, who makes a quick appearance as a customer at Central Perk, was Courteney Cox's sister-in-law at the time of the episode. She will later make an appearance in Friends: The One with Chandler's Dad (2001) as a waitress.
    2. This episode introduces Reese Witherspoon as Rachel's sister, Jill.
    3. One of the few episodes without an additional scene during the end credits. This is usually only the case for two-part episodes or season finales.
    4. Joey sings 'Happy Birthday' to a girl named Amy. Coincidently the name of Rachel's other sister.

    The One Where Chandler Can't Cry

    S06E14 Episode aired 10 February 2000
    1. According to this episode Chandler doesn't really cry but in past episodes he is seen crying more than any of the other guys.
    2. Considering the report, according to actor Matt LeBlanc in an interview with People, there was a pitch that Joey and Phoebe were actually having casual sex throughout the entire series, Joey's reaction to watching Phoebe in the porn movie makes perfect sense.
    3. It's stated in the episode that Phoebe only cried for 2 days when she watched Bambi, because her mother killed herself, so she cried because of that. However, in Season 2 of "the one where old yeller dies" she says she was never allowed to watch sad parts of movies when she was little.

    The One That Could Have Been: Part 1

    S06E15 Episode aired 17 February 2000
    1. This is one of the few times in season 6 where Lisa Kudrow is not wearing a wig or hairpiece. Producers thought her real-life hair was too short for the character of Phoebe.
    2. First appearance by Cole Sprouse as Ben Geller.
    3. In the 2 part split version of this episode: Part one features the usual variation of the standard version of the opening titles, with the "Fat Monica Dance" under the closing credits. Part 2 starts immediately with the specially re-shot "Alternate Reality" version of the Fountain Titles.
    4. In this episode, we find out the name given to the Dog Statue. His name is "Pat The Dog!"
    5. This episode co stars Cole Sprouse as Ben. Cole sprouse plays Jughead in the Archie comics inspired show Riverdale (2017). In this episode Chandler sells a story to Archie comics.
    6. Chandler mentions that people of Phoebe's age (31) should not have heart attacks at her age. Ironically, when the show first aired in 1994, Lisa Kudrow was actually 31.

    8. In this episode, Joey hires Chandler as his assistant in order to help Chandler with money. A similar story plot happens for real in season one, when Chandler hires Phoebe (for a short time) as his secretary when she is between jobs, and also in season two, when Chandler gets Joey a job at his office when Joey is low on income.

    The One That Could Have Been: Part 2

    S06E16 Episode aired 17 February 2000
    1. Last appearance of Susan Bunch.
    2. The chair is Joey's apartment is also in Lt. Worf's quarters on Star Trek: The Next Generation.
    3. When Ross dates Charlie in season 10 he relates back to the threesome idea of this episode when she tells him about a relationship problem, even though it's an imaginary event.
    4. The only time during the theme song credits where the cast is shown in their "alternate lives" persona.
    5. In the real reality, Carol's hair is straight, while Susan's hair is curly. In this alternate reality episode, their hairstyles are reversed.
    6. Final appearance of Barry Farber.

    S06E17 Episode aired 24 February 2000
    1. The concept that Ross says is called "unagi" is actually called "uranagi". His long absence from karate would explain his mistake.
    2. "Unagi" is as Rachel and Phoebe say, the Japanese word for freshwater eel.
    3. In this episode appeared a mix tape that includes the voice of Janice, Chandler's ex-girlfriend.

    The One Where Ross Dates a Student

    S06E18 Episode aired 9 March 2000
    1. In season 3, episode 7, The One with the Race Car Bed, Joey teachers an acting class. Ross told Joey he can't sleep with his students, yet forgets his own advice when he becomes a professor.
    2. The Magna Doodle has what appears to be a 'winged' flying rocket pyramid with the 'Eye of Providence" on top and flames like rocket fuel shooting out of the bottom. Along each side appears to be two sperm or maybe asps (snakes) and an unidentifiable rectangular object.
    3. Alexandra Holden (Elizabeth) and Bess Meyer (Dana Keystone) both had minor parts in Bones (2005)

    The One with Joey's Fridge

    S06E19 Episode aired 23 March 2000
    1. Chandler mentions that the guy that Rachel will take to a charity ball had to have at least 50 dollars (to rent a tuxedo) And Joey says "Oh, so close". He refers to that he doesn't have 50 dollars. When Matt LeBlanc got cast for the role of Joey, he only had 11 dollars to his name.
    2. The Magna Doodle has two surfers surfing a curl.

    The One with Mac and C.H.E.E.S.E.

    S06E20 Episode aired 13 April 2000
    1. Rachel's hair is noticeably longer than it was in the previous episode: Jennifer Aniston clearly has hair extensions in due to the fact that she was shooting the movie "Rockstar" (2001) at this time, a movie based in the 1980s which required her to have long hair.
    2. One clip that shows Chandler and Joey hugging is from "The One That Could Have Been", therefore this hug did not happen in their reality
    3. The Magna Doodle starts out with a Martian face.
    4. Some of the clips in the montage of Joey and Chandler hugging are bloopers.

    The One Where Ross Meets Elizabeth's Dad

    S06E21 Episode aired 27 April 2000
    1. Bruce Willis agreeing to guest appear on Friends was because he lost a bet to Matthew Perry is an urban legend. People Magazine Star Spotlight 2000, 'Willis agreed to a guest stint on 'Friends' simply because he and Perry thought it would be fun.' News outlets mistakenly reported on the rumor. Willis was in fact paid for the role, including syndication runs, but donated the money to The American Foundation for AIDS Research, AIDS Project Los Angeles, the Elizabeth Glaser Pediatric AIDS Foundation, the Rape Treatment Center, and UCLA Unicamp for underprivileged children.
    2. June Gable (Estelle Leonard) also appeared in the first season as the nurse who deliver Joey's Celtic fan friends baby.

    The One Where Paul's the Man

    S06E22 Episode aired 4 May 2000
    1. Ilia Volok plays the dry cleaner who claims he never saw the movie Air Force One (1997). However, Volok actually starred in the film, portraying Vladimir Krasin, the first terrorist to die at the hands of the president.
    2. Bruce Willis won an Emmy for his performance as Paul Stevens.
    3. Joey talks about Air Force One to the dry cleaner. Air Force One also starred Gary Oldman, who was also in Friends and starred with Joey in both Friends and Lost in Space.

    The One with the Ring

    S06E23 Episode aired 11 May 2000
    1. Monica (Courteney Cox) has less screen time in this episode. She appears only 50 seconds in one scene.
    2. The magna doodle reads "Rachel call D'ward St. George." This is a reference Edward St. George, a hairstylist who worked on the set of Friends at the time.
    3. When Paul hugs Joey, Joey says "Paul, is it?" Chandler says this same exact line in the pilot when discussing Monica's date, "Paul, the Wine Guy."
    4. The boys' favourite film is Die Hard yet they never even mention the similarity between Paul (played by Bruce Willis) and Bruce Willis.
    5. Matthew Perry and Bruce Willis knew each other at the time because of their movie The Whole Nine Yards.

    The One with the Proposal: Part 1

    S06E24 Episode aired 18 May 2000
    1. The writers originally intended for Ross to discover that Elizabeth was pregnant in "The One With The Proposal". Ross would discover after their baby was born that it wasn't his. This idea was scrapped as writers didn't want to put viewers through an entire pregnancy that would later prove to have nothing to do with the central characters.
    2. Dr. Richard Burke (Tom Selleck), recites an excerpt from a poem at dinner: "In the sweetness of friendship, let there be laughter and sharing of pleasures. For in the dew of little things, the heart finds its morning and is refreshed." It is the end of Kahlil Gibran's "On Friendship".
    3. Ross getting hit in the back by a water balloon in Elizabeth's apartment was unintentional and as such his reaction was ad-libbed.
    4. Last appearance of Ross' young girlfriend Elizabeth.

    The One with the Proposal: Part 2

    S06E25 Episode aired 18 May 2000
    1. Final appearance of Dr. Richard Burke.
    2. When Monica goes to Richard Burke's house, he is reading a book. The book is "A Heartbreaking Work of Staggering Genius" by David Eggers.
    3. David Schwimmer began shooting the HBO miniseries Band of Brothers (2001) during the second week of production on this episode and therefore was not part of the big group hug at the end. (His absence is noted by the characters on screen.)
    4. One of the few season finales that does not have a main storyline around Rachel (such as a situation with Ross or Joey or revealing her pregnancy)
