              They're Playing Our Song

              1. John Mahoney and Peri Gilpin both made appearances as different characters on Cheers (1982) during the show's final season. Mahoney played a jingle writer hired by Rebecca to advertise the bar and in 'They're playing our song' it is his character Martin Crane who comes up with the successful jingles to advertise Frasier's show, much to his sons annoyance.
              2. The title is from the musical They're Playing Our Song with book by Neil Simon, lyrics by Carole Bayer Sager, and music by Marvin Hamlisch based on the real-life relationship of Hamlisch and Sager.

              Big Crane on Campus

              2. The title comes from the popular collegiate expression: Big Man on Campus or BMOC.
              3. At the school when they are waiting to go inside to join the retirement party there is a picture on the wall behind Frasier which bears a striking resemblance to Cliff Clavin a regular character in Cheers (1982) the show that Frasier spun off from.

              1. Marty Crane makes fun of the English. John Mahoney, who plays Marty was born in England.
              2. Frasier tells his date of his fondness for the opera singer Matilde Decagney, who is the real-life owner and trainer of Moose, the dog who played Eddie.
              3. In one episode, after a night at the opera watching "Rigoletto" by Verdi, Frasier remarks to his date that the finest soprano to sing the role of "Gilda" was "The great Mathilde Decagney". Matilda de Cagny is the animal trainer who owns Moose, the dog who plays Eddie.
              4. In this episode, Martin mentions how he doesn't like or understand opera, when in real life it was John Mahoney (Martin) who was a fan of opera and wine, while David Hyde Pierce (Niles) wasn't into either of those things.

              Something About Dr. Mary

              1. The character of Chuck Ranberg, the producer with a speech impediment is named after former writer Chuck Ranberg.
              2. The character of Dr. Mary makes a joke about Queen Latifah not being born a real queen. Dr. Mary was played by Kim Coles, who starred with Queen Latifah in "Living Single" for 5 seasons.
              3. In Season 7, Niles begins kickboxing. David Hyde Pierce is a kick boxer as well.

              1. Mel offers a 1961 Cheval Blanc to Niles as a gift. The same wine was referenced in the movie Sideways.

              1. When Niles talks about expecting cheating from a mattress king but not a garbage king, this is possibly a nod to Friends, another popular NBC show.

              1. The title is a comic parody of the play cycle Mourning Becomes Electra written by American playwright Eugene O'Neill premiering in 1932.

              To Thine Old Self Be True

              1. The title is based upon a line from William Shakespeare's play Hamlet. "This above all, to thine own self be true."

              The Three Faces of Frasier

              1. Interesting quirk in this episode, Frasier loses his new "promising" love interest at the beginning of this episode. We take it that the love interest is the stripper from the previous episode, especially since he finds out over the phone that she has just got married in Vegas. Now for the quirk, he refers to the love interest as "Rachel" but in the previous episode the real name of the stripper "Officer Nasty" was actually "Dinah" BUT the name of the actress that played "Officer Nasty/Dinah" is actually Rachel.

              1. The title comes from the name of the sixth studio album by English rock group Pink Floyd released in 1973.

              Something Borrowed, Someone Blue: Part 1

              1. It won an Emmy Award for Outstanding Multi-Camera Picture Editing for a Series.
              2. The beginnings of the over-weight Daphne storyline, that was used to cover Jane Leeves pregnancy.
              3. Daphne's brother Simon (Anthony LaPaglia) makes several references to Daphne being pregnant, which she denies. In reality, Jane Leeves was indeed pregnant.
              4. Per the title, for good luck the bride must wear something old, something new, something borrowed and something blue.

              1. It won an Emmy Award for Outstanding Multi-Camera Picture Editing for a Series.
              2. Martin asks the bartender for a beer and he receives a Ballantine's, to which he exclaims "That is his brand!" He then claims that they are going to stop making that beer. At the time the episode aired, Ballantine's Brewing was owned by Pabst and had, between 1996 and 2000 stopped brewing all but one of their lines.
              3. This episode, the last of the season, does not have the usual roster of credits for the season's call-in patients.
              4. Per the title, for good luck the bride must wear something old, something new, something borrowed and something blue.
              5. GOOF: In the scene where Daphne and Niles are in the bedroom talking, there's a moment when they both go to lock all the doors in the room. The door that Niles locks from the hallway, the main door, is like the other doors in the room in that it locks from the inside. Yet Niles opens the door and locks it from the outside.
