Good Grief

1. In the premiere of the sixth season, the show took over the time slot previously occupied by Seinfeld (1989). It opens with Frasier auditioning for a TV show after being fired from his radio show, and his opening speech is a reference to the acquisition of "Seinfeld"'s slot: "Before we begin, I'd like to say how honored I am to be taking over this slot. Obviously, I have some rather big shoes to fill - my predecessor here was much beloved. But I have never been one to shrink from a challenge and I'm sure we'll enjoy many happy years here together in my new home."

2. Martin is seen wearing the sweater Daphne gave him for Christmas the episode "Perspectives of Christmas" (5.9).

2. The Super Bowl that Frasier and everyone see was Super Bowl XXXIII, in which the Denver Broncos defeated the Atlanta Falcons by the score of 34-19. It was notable for being John Elway's final game.

1. Beverly Di'Angelo plays a caller by the name of Audrey at the beginning of the show. She played Helen Griswold in the Vacation movies as the mother of Audrey and Rusty Griswold.

2. Piper Laurie was a guest caller in the first season, in Frasier: Guess Who's Coming to Breakfast (1994)
3. Baranski was nominated for an Emmy and an Online Film & Television Association Award for best guest actress in a comedy series (winning the latter).
4. The character of Dr. Noras mother, Mrs. Mulhern (played by Piper Laurie) is extremely similar to the character Laurie played in Carrie (1976), a volatile, emotionally abusive, God-fearing woman.
