S04E02 
  1. Danielle Fishel (Topanga) was allegedly not allowed to cut her hair for several years. When she was finally allowed to, she incorporated it into Boy Meets World (particularly this episode).
  2. The episode's title is a riff off of the idiom "Here today, gone tomorrow."
  3. In the episode, they refer to the "Elephant Man" as "John Merrick," which was the name used in the 1980 film "The Elephant Man." However, the actual "Elephant Man" was named "Joseph Merrick."

S04E03 
  1. Mr. Feeny says, "They're $18, and they're socks! I'm a teacher, not a heart surgeon!" William Daniels previously played the heart surgeon Dr. Mark Craig in St. Elsewhere (1982). William Russ (Alan Matthews) played his patient Patrick O'Casey in St. Elsewhere: Time Heals: Part 1 (1986) and St. Elsewhere: Time Heals: Part 2 (1986).
  2. When Alan and Eric go to the Career Fair, a salesman sells them a seemingly ridiculous product called "Poo-pourri" that is supposed to "deodorize, sanitize and glamorize." A product exists in real life, called "Poo-pourri," which is sprayed directly into the toilet before bowel movements to prevent odor.
  3. While Shawn is teaching Cory to be poor, Shawn revealed (since moving out from Mr. Turner's place and back in with his dad) he regularly doesn't have three meals a day, indoor plumbing, and has to sleep outside multiple times a week.

  1. The first episode features a character's death: Brenda the lunch-lady. The next time a character died was in the season 6 episode Boy Meets World: We'll Have a Good Time Then (1999). Other episodes to feature character deaths are Boy Meets World: And Then There Was Shawn (1998) and Boy Meets World: The Psychotic Episode (1999), but both of those turned out to be dreams.

    1. Kristanna Loken would later reprise her role as Jennifer Bassett, now the wife of Stuart Minkus (Lee Norris) and the mother of Farkle Minkus (Corey Fogelmanis), in Girl Meets World: Girl Meets Farkle (2015) and "Girl Meets World" (2014) {(#2.34)}.
    2. According to Eric, he was born on June 24, 1978. However, in an episode in the previous season, his birthday is winter, as his parents recognized this. At the same time, Eric himself is not reliable regarding his personal information, primarily because for more than 12 years, he thought his middle name was Neil.

    S04E12 
    1. The actor, Buddy Hackett, who plays Mr. Fontini in this episode, is the same actor who provided the voice for Scuttle in Disney's The Little Mermaid.
    2. Shawn quickly picks up and learns basic Italian.
    3. Shawn Hunter appears to have a knack for languages, at least when money is involved. He can pick up basic Italian and learns Dutch rather fluently, as seen in Boy Meets World: An Affair to Forget (1996) and Boy Meets World: B & B's B'n B (1997).
    4. 16 year olds are not allowed to work in the docks that early in the morning.

    1. The only episode where extended scenes show the inside Mr. Feeny's house. Before and after this episode, all of the views inside his house were through a window.

    S04E14 
    1. The home movies that Alan watches are actual home movies of Ben Savage as a young boy. The clips are from Ben's birthday (where he gets some WWF wrestling action figures), Christmas (where a very young Ben drives an electric Power Wheels toy car), and a soccer game where Ben looks at the camera as someone shouts his name. William Russ and Betsy Randle's voices dub over the actual dialog of presumably Ben's and Fred's parents.
    2. The judge is played by Dan Lauria, who played Ben Savage's brother Fred's father on "The Wonder Years."
    3. When Cory is trying to teach Morgan sports, she mistakenly calls a boxing glove a boxing mitten. This is precisely how Cory referred to his father's silver gloves (given as a gift) in Boy Meets World: Kid Gloves (1994).
    4. Alan said he took Eric to the DMV on his 16th birthday because it's a Matthews men tradition, but in the season one episode, It's a Wonderful Night, Eric went with his friend, Jason, to the DMV, where he failed his road test. Although Alan possibly went with Eric the second time, he clearly states he went with Eric on his birthday & also showed no signs of anger when Eric went with Jason.
    5. Topanga is older than Cory.
    6. Shawn, Cory and Topanga are all now 16.
    7. Despite all being 16, Topanga is the oldest, followed by Shawn and then Cory. In real life, Danielle Fishel (Topanga) is the youngest at 16 with Ben Savage (Cory) and Rider Strong (Shawn) both 17.
    8. Cory is shown to be the youngest, as Shawn and Topanga have already turned 16 with Topanga being the oldest.

    1. Throughout the entire episode. Rider Strong, can be seen wearing girls makeup. Even before becoming 'Veronica'.
    2. Title Reference: the title is based off the book "Black Like Me" by John Howard Griffin. In the book a white man decides to dress up as a black man to see how the life is. In this episode Cory and Shawn do the same thing but dress up as a girl instead.

    1. Topanga said about her aunt, "My aunt has never been in love, never been married, and wouldn't even know who Romeo and Juliet were." Aunt Prudence was played by Olivia Hussey, who is probably best known for her 1968 portrayal of Juliet in Franco 'Zeffirelli.''s adaptation of William Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet (1968).
    2. Shawn appears to have nail polish on the middle finger of his left hand. Boy Meets World: Uncle Daddy (1997) said it resulted from slamming his fingers in a door. It can be seen in his first scene with Becky Sparrow, but not later when he comes over to Cory's house.
    3. When Mr. Feeney says that he holds Cory and Topanga in high regard, Cory exclaims, "You like me?!" This could be about season 1, episode 1, when Cory goes to Mr. Feeney during lunch and asks if he likes him, concluding that Feeney doesn't like him.
    4. This episode takes place two weeks after the previous episode.
    5. Cory says that Topanga pushed him up against his locker and gave him his first kiss when he was 13; however, in the episode "Cory's Alternative Friends," they were both 11.

    S04E18 
    1. After Cory and Shawn walk up to Eric and his girlfriend, Kelly, at Chubbie's, Cory says, "Eric, listen, you do not want to miss this one, okay? It's Jim Carrey and Steven Seagal starring in, What Are You Doing In My Movie?" The boy who played Kelly's son, Ryan (Justin Cooper), went on to star as Jim Carrey's son in Liar Liar (1997) about a month later when this episode originally aired.
    2. Shawn still has a blackened middle finger on his left hand, as seen in the previous episode. Rider Strong said he slammed his fingers in a door.

    Quiz Show

    S04E19 
    1. Phil Leeds appeared in three different episodes - You Can Go Home Again (#4.1), Quiz Show (#4.19), and How to Succeed in Business (#5.9) - twice as an old man who appears to have been lured to a restaurant for years.
    2. Due to the moon's orbit, it does not weigh anything. However, the answer that the students from Einstein Academy provided (81 quintillion tons) is correct was to be placed on Earth before it collapsed under its weight.
    3. Rider Strong (Shawn Hunter) can be seen with an earring in his upper left ear. It remains for only a handful of episodes as the earring can't be taken out for a few months until it heals. It is removed for filming by the start of season 5.

    1. This is the final episode that Anthony Tyler Quinn appeared in.
    2. Jerry Levine (Mr. Mack) would eventually return to the series, albeit behind the camera, directing five episodes for the final two seasons.
    3. At 10:08, Cory turns around to find three "Center" girls, and gives a variation of the Vulcan salute/"Live Long and Prosper" hand gesture from the "Star Trek" franchise. He does this again at 11:19 when he turns around to find Mr. Mack behind him.
    4. Rider Strong (Shawn Hunter) can be seen with an earring in his upper left ear. It remains for only a handful of episodes as the earring can't be taken out for a few months until it heals. It is removed for filming by the start of season 5.
    5. At the ending of the episode, it is not known for sure if Jonathan Turner will survive or not. However, in the season 5 finale Boy Meets World: Graduation (1998), Stuart Minkus says hi to him while Mr. Turner remains off-screen. This lets viewers know that he did survive but may or may not be in a wheelchair. The Girl Meets World (2014) episode Girl Meets World: Girl Meets the New Teacher (2015) revealed that Mr. Turner married his nurse and became the superintendent that hired Cory as a teacher.

    Learning to Fly

    S04E22 
    1. Cory tells Mary Beth that his girlfriend's name is Topanga, to which she replies, "That sounds like a freeway exit." That is how Topanga got her name. Jacobs needed a name, and they were passing Topanga Canyon, and it stuck.
    2. The boom mic can be seen at the top of the screen when Erik is in the Dean's office and stand up.

    4. Bonnie Bartlett (Dean Lila Bolander) is the real-life wife of William Daniels (George Feeny). Their characters will later begin a romance, culminating in marriage in Boy Meets World: State of the Unions (1999).
