          Fools for Love

          S10E15 Episode aired 23 February 2000
          1. The episode "Fools for Love" was likely inspired by/based on the early-'90s killing spree of Paul Bernardo and Karla Homolka.
          2. Ellen Pompeo who portrays Laura Kendrick appeared as Jenna Weber 4 years prior in Law & Order: Savior (1996)
          3. Some viewers will undoubtedly recognize the plot being based on the true story of the "Barbie & Ken Killers", Karla Homolka and Paul Bernardo (AKA Scarborough Rapist). Homolka and Bernardo were arrested in 1993. In 1995, Bernardo was convicted of the two teenagers' murders and received life in prison and a dangerous offender designation, the full maximum sentence allowed in Canada. During the 1993 investigation, Homolka stated to investigators that Bernardo had abused her, and that she had been an unwilling accomplice to the murders. As a result, she struck a deal with prosecutors for a reduced prison sentence of 12 years in exchange for a guilty plea for manslaughter. Homolka scored 5/40 on the Psychopathy Checklist, in contrast to Bernardo's 35/40. However, videotapes of the crimes were later found that demonstrated that she was a more active participant than she had claimed. As a result, the deal that she had struck with prosecutors was dubbed in the Canadian press the "Deal with the Devil". Public outrage about Homolka's plea deal continued until her high-profile release from prison in 2005.
          4. Peter Williams has books in his apartment about real-life serial killers Ted Bundy, Richard Speck and the Boston Strangler. Like Williams, these killers targeted women.

Smith said that he simply wanted to play "the guy who leads them to the guy who leads him to the guy who leads them to the suspect." Surrender Dorothy

              S10E19 Episode aired 26 April 2000
              1. The episode's title recalls two references to "surrender." The father-in-law of the deceased is a therapist well known for advocating that women submit to their husbands' authority. His self-help books use the tagline "Surrender with Love." But it was the Wicked Witch of the West who famously scrawled "Surrender Dorothy" across the sky of Oz using her broomstick as the sky-writing vehicle. The therapist claims that his "terms of surrender" enhance the quality of life for both husbands and wives, but the allusion to the Wicked Witch clearly implies otherwise.
